Unlike fine wine, personal injury cases do not improve with age! If you have been injured in an accident, don’t hesitate to contact our office immediately. Put our passion, experience and know-how to work for you (or your loved one) right away.

We will dispatch our professionals to perform a thorough factual investigation. The timely collection and preservation of evidence is crucial to establishing the essential link between your injuries and the negligent acts of those responsible.

Over the years, we have amassed a network of knowledgeable, well-respected experts in the fields of medicine, accident reconstruction and forensic accounting. We will retain the appropriate experts to prepare reports, and give testimony at trial, that is crucial to the success of your case.

We also routinely employ topnotch private investigators to assist us in gathering and evaluating the facts surrounding your case, identifying those responsible, and determining the amount of insurance coverage available to compensate you for your personal injuries.

We will dispatch these experts to take pictures of the accident scene, obtain witness statements, and if applicable, perform deed searches to ascertain who owns the property where you were hurt.  When you hire the Bonfante Law Firm as your Suffolk County personal injury law firm, you will automatically gain access to our team of top-notch experts at no additional cost to you.

If you have been injured in an accident and you have reason to believe someone else is at fault, here are the steps you must take immediately.

Get the names, addresses and phone numbers of anyone who witnessed the accident.

Take pictures of your injuries (i.e. cuts, bruises, burns, scarring, stitches, staples, etc.).

If you have not already done so, get to an emergency room to be examined immediately so that the appropriate tests can be performed to determine the extent of your injuries.

Contact your family doctor right away to get prescriptions for any necessary pain medication, as well as referrals to see the appropriate medical specialists (i.e Orthopedist, Neurologist, Chiropractor, Physical Therapist, etc.).

See to it that you get the appropriate diagnostic tests (such as X-Rays, MRI’s, or CT-Scans) performed before too much time passes. The doctors or other health care providers who examine you will be able to inform you which test(s) are applicable based on the symptoms you are experiencing.

Keep track of the amount of time you missed from work as a result of your injuries, as well as any lost wages you have suffered.

Document all out of pocket expenses you incur related to your injuries (co-pays, deductibles, etc.).

Keep a log or journal to document the frequency of your treatment, as well as the pain you are experiencing, making sure to note all of the specific parts of your body that hurt, along with the frequency and severity of the pain.

Where injuries are the result of an auto accident, the no-fault insurance carrier must be put on notice in writing within thirty (30) days of the accident. Failure to do this can result in the denial of your medical benefits.  Click Here to read more about New York State No-Fault Insurance law.

Report the claim. Contact your own insurance company and let them know you were involved in an accident. Be sure to write down any claim numbers you are given.

Make sure to take good quality color photos showing the damage to your car from several different angles, in daylight.
